Harry Johnston serves on the Metro Water District Board in his capacity as Chairman of Cherokee County. He is also a member of the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Transportation & Air Quality Committee, the Regional Transit Committee. Chairman Johnston serves as chairman of the City of Canton’s Board of Zoning Appeals, and as a member of the city’s Historical Preservation Committee.
He served as Cherokee County’s District 1 Commissioner from 2000-2014 and was elected chairman in 2014. He served on the county’s planning commission from 1996-2000, including two years as chairman. Chairman Johnston is retired from a 42-year career in finance and accounting with Southern Company.
