About Honorable Phil Miller
Chairman Phil Miller, a Douglas County native, was sworn-in to office as Chairman of the Douglas County Board of Commissioners on May 19, 2023 following his gubernatorial appointment.
A 46-year veteran of law enforcement, Miller retired as Douglas County Sheriff in 2016 after serving four terms in office. He began his career in 1971 with the Douglasville Police Department, where he eventually became the department’s first plain-clothes detective. He was recruited to the Sheriff’s Office in 1976 by Sheriff Earl Lee and spent the next 23 years moving up the ranks after being elected Sheriff in 2001.
